Overview of App Security PINs
There are three levels of security in the Tapendium Apps, each accessed with a different PIN number.
Device Admin Level (Most commonly given): The Device Settings level PIN provides access to settings on the device. It is primarily used to access Wifi settings, and to re-assign the device to a new location - for example to remove a device from a room and then assign a spare. The settings PIN should be made available to IT support, and to after-hours staff that may need to swap spare devices into a room.
Device Settings Level: The Admin level PIN provides very basic access to the device. It can be used to check the status of the device, reset it for the next guest, and sync content if required. The Admin PIN should be made available to anyone who checks device status in rooms.
Kiosk Level: The Kiosk Pin unlocks the primary security on the device and enables access to all Android settings and Apps. It should be made available only to technical staff.
The PIN number are set by Tapendium during initial installation and are not visible in the Admin Portal. You can however specify which numbers you wish to use, and we can update them for you on request.
If you are not sure of your hotel’s device PINs, or need to them reset, please email support@tapendium.com and we will organise that for you.
What is Kiosk Mode?
Kiosk Mode is the term for security settings that the Tapendium solution applies to tablet devices to prevent users from having full access to other applications, software and settings on the tablet. When Kiosk Mode is enabled, users are only able to use the Tapendium app. Hotel and Tapendium staff have passwords to unlock Sealed mode and perform necessary tasks on the tablets.
How do I access Kiosk Mode?
Tapendium devices are locked down using an additional layer of security called Kiosk Mode. Disabling Kiosk Mode enables access to all Android settings and Apps.

Device Admin can access Kiosk Mode via Knox Manage Settings using Device Admin PIN (provided by the Tapendium team).
