Battery and WiFi Connection Warnings on the Tablet
The purpose of these features is to allow housekeeping to more easily spot issues with tablets and report them to maintenance/IT.
Battery Warning:
Will appear in Red on the welcome screen if the battery is less than 10%.
Will change to Green if the device is connected to power, then disappears after 10secs.
Wi-Fi Status:
Will appear in Red on the welcome screen if the Wi-Fi is disconnected.
Changes to Green when Wi-Fi is connected, then disappears after 10 secs.
Wi-Fi check is run when power is connected.
Housekeeping should confirm no Red Wi-Fi icon when connecting to the dock.
Housekeeping should report Wi-Fi and battery issues to maintenance/IT for action.
Battery Status - Connected to Dock
After placing the device in the dock:
Green battery icon will appear on the welcome screen
Green battery icon will stay on the welcome screen for 10 seconds, or until tapped.
When connecting the device to the dock, confirm that the device displays a Green battery icon.
**If you see a Red battery icon, then check power cables and plugs and report any issues to maintenance.
Battery Status - Low
If the device has battery charge less than 10%, the red battery icon will appear on the welcome screen.
If the device battery icon is Red, place the device into dock.
If the device is placed in a dock but the icon stays red, the dock power isn't working.
Potential causes (and resolution) of the icon staying Red while in the dock include:
Power cable unplugged or missing (check power cable is plugged in)
Power turned off (turn power on)
Device not sitting correctly in the doc (reposition tablet in dock)
Faulty dock (if you have tried all the above, contact the IT department to test the dock)
**If you have checked all the methods above and still stays red, place report this to your IT department.
Wi-Fi Status - Disconnected
If device is disconnected from Wi-Fi, the Red icon will appear on welcome screen.
If the Wi-Fi icon is Red, manually reconnect the device by tapping on the Red icon.
Manually Reconnect to Wi-Fi
To manually reconnect Wi-Fi:
Tap on Red Wi-Fi icon.
Wi-Fi status will refresh.
Wi-Fi icon will turn Green and disappear after 10 seconds.
**If manual reconnect does not turn icon green, contact maintenance/IT.
Wi-Fi Status - Connected
After successful Wi-Fi re-connected:
Green Wi-Fi icon will appear on welcome screen.
Green Wi-Fi icon will stay on welcome screen for 10 seconds, or until tapped.
The Wi-Fi icon will disappear after 10 seconds.
Overview of Device Settings screens
Device Status: Indicates if the tablet device is online or offline.
Battery: This shows the battery power level of the device.
Wi-Fi Signal: Clicking on the setting icon shows you the details of the Wi-Fi connection to the device.
Speed Test: Downloads a set of files to the device to test the speed of the connection to the Tapendium servers.
Full Sync: Synchronises all content, ensuring the latest content is on the device. This may be required if you have made changes to background images or other theme settings, or you are concerned that some content is missing or out of date.
Wipe Guest Data: Click to wipe guest data (Example: Netflix login details)
Reboot Device: Click to restart device (turns on/off)
Wi-Fi Reset: click to reset the Wi-Fi location, it would log the current Wi-Fi address out. User would have to go to Android → Wi-Fi settings → to reselect Wi-Fi source.
Assign Room: Assign the device to a Location. (Example: Room 2005)
Swap Device: User can swap device settings to another location (i.e. from Room 101 - Room 102)
Install/Update Apps: Select an app to install (used to manually update the Tapendium App).
Asset Info: Information on the asset number assigned to the tablet and the SIM PIN.
Apply Default Policy: This setting would apply a set of default settings to the Tapendium Application (example: screen time, Wi-Fi settings).
Un-assign Room: click to un-assign the current located room.
Logout: Admin users click to log out Tapendium Knox.
Exit Test Mode: Click to change tablet environment to in production.
Date & Time: Shows local date, time and time zone of the tablet.
Tapendium App Status: shows App version, date of install, environments of the tablet.
Exist Kiosk Mode: Click to enter guest-facing App, admin would require hotel pin to edit settings.
Lock Settings: This would lock users out from the Knox Manage Settings and enter Lockdown Desktop.
Accessing Settings from the Tapendium App
The Tapendium App is managed by accessing Settings on the tablet device
Step 1: Tap on the Settings icon located on the top right corner of the guest-facing app.
Step 2: Enter Hotel Pin
There are 2 PIN numbers that provide access to device management features. Either can be used to access the Settings screen.
The Device Settings PIN: This is required to access the Settings Page. The Settings Page provides access to device information and basic settings.
** If you enter the Device Settings PIN, you get this limited screen. It is designed for basic users in rooms.The Device Admin Pin: This provides access to device management settings. It can be used to deactivate the device (remove it from a room), assign it to a different room, and unlock the device. Access should be limited to hotel technical staff and authorise solution admins.
**If you enter the Device Admin PIN, you get this screen with access to device management functions. It is designed for technical staff
**The device is also locked down using an additional layer of security called Sealed Mode. You can manage sealed mode from this screen.
PIN numbers are managed by Tapendium and provided to authorise hotel staff. Please contact support@tapendium.com for Pin numbers if you have forgotten.
Accessing Settings from Lockdown Desktop
When the device is locked, if you access the Lockdown desktop you will see a screen similar to this, with a link to the Tapendium App. The page will be branded to your hotel.
Step 1: Swipe down from the top of the screen to access the title bar
Step 2: Click the top right corner of the Lockdown desktop page
Step 3: Enter Password to unlock the device. (Either Device Setting PIN, or Device Admin PIN)
